Cancer:
A Guide to Alternative Self-Healing Techniques (The Mind/Body Medicine
Library), Audio Renaissance Tapes, Los Angeles, 1998. Two tapes, $16.95,
available from on-line booksellers and book stores everywhere.
Tape 1, Side A: Mind/Body
Medicine and Cancer contains an inspiring and informative talk on how
mind/body medicine can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the immune
system; reduce pain and the side effects of chemotherapy, radiation and
surgery; and speed healing. Dr. Collinge reveals key principles of psychological
adjustment, behavior change, and mind/body medicine that are taught in
leading cancer self-help programs, for both quality of life and increased
survival.
In Tape 1, Side B: Healing
Imagery for Cancer Dr. Collinge guides the listener through imagery
for building vital energy; strengthening the body's immune defenses against
cancer; amplifying the effects of nutritional and medical therapies; removing
the waste products of the healing process; and reinforcing healthful changes
in behavior and lifestyle. This exercise is designed for regular use as
a self-healing practice, and is accompanied by relaxing background music.
Tape 2, Side A: Deep
Relaxation leads the listener through a guided breathing and relaxation
exercise resulting in the relaxation response, a physiological state in
which all the body's healing mechanisms operate most efficiently. This
process has proven effective in enhancing immunity, and reducing pain and
the stress of cancer. This exercise may be used regularly as a self-healing
practice, and is accompanied by relaxing background music.
Tape 2, Side B: Meeting
Your Inner Healer leads the listener on a safe and gentle hypnotic
journey to contact a source of wisdom and guidance within. The "Inner Healer"
is a universal archetypal figure which we all carry in our subconscious
a symbolic representation of our highest and deepest wisdom, and our connection
to our Source. This exercise leads to important insights about how we can
support our healing at the present time. It may be used regularly to gain
inspiration and inner guidance, and is accompanied by relaxing background
music.
